Easy Sweet & Savory Breakfast Sandwich

This Easy Sweet and Savory Breakfast Sandwich is perfect for picky eaters! It's sweet, savory and filling! The best part of this sandwich is the combined flavors of the savory sunny yolk mixed with the saltiness of the ham and cheese, and sweetness from the jam. If you're not into the runny yolk, just cook the egg for longer. For a less messy breakfast sandwich, use soft-boiled eggs for a similar taste. 

We used ham here because it's what we had on hand, but easily upgrade this recipe with bacon. 

We've only experimented with blueberry and strawberry jam, but feel free to use other flavored-jams or fruit preserves. Tells us your favorite variations of this recipe! 

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients:

  • milk bread 
  • strawberry or blueberry jam 
  • ham
  • 1 egg
  • 1 slice of American cheese
  • cooking oil 

Directions:

  1. Spread desired jam on toasted bread. Add cheese. Set aside.
  2. In a small cooking pan, heat cooking oil and cook egg sunny side and heat up ham. Heating up the ham brings out the desired saltiness since we're not seasoning our eggs. 
  3. Add warmed ham and egg while still hot. The heat will help melt the cheese. Enjoy warm!
