Sotteok sotteok is a Korean street food that comprises of sausage (SAU-sage) and tteok (Korean rice cake), usually with some sort of sauce. Traditionally, these are made with rice cakes but we made them with rice paper! There's just something about that extra chewy texture that we like from the rolled up rice papers.
- 4 sheets of dry rice paper
- 4 mini sausages
- 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 1/2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- cooking oil
- skewers or toothpicks
- warm water
Directions:
1. Hydrate one rice paper and roll it up. When it is all rolled up, add another rice paper to make the "rice cake" thicker. Repeat until you have two long "rice cakes." Cut them until they are about finger length or same size as the sausages.
2. Skewer rice cakes and sausages alternatively
3. In a small pan, heat cooking oil and add skewers. Cook until heated through, adding sauce to sear as you cook.
4. Serve hot.
Optional:
- Add roasted sesame seeds for garnish
- Add cheese to give it an extra cheesey touch
